Aadhar is a 12-digit unique number issued by the Unique Identification Authority of India (UIDAI) to the residents of India, on behalf of the Government of India. The Aadhaar card is certainly one of the most important documents. It acts as proof of identity and proof of address for residents of India. However, earlier, the UIDAI allowed citizens to change their address on their Aadhaar card without submitting valid proof of address. But now, the Aadhaar issuing authority has brought a change in the Aadhaar card address change process. The UIDAI has urged the Aadhaar user to update the address using another valid PoA document from the list of documents as prescribed by UIDAI.

Replying to an Aadhaar Card user, UIDAI has tweeted that the Address Validation Letter facility has been discontinued until further notice.
